We are an army of adventure-junkies who have decided to push our bodies in feats of athleticism for the greater cause of bringing the hope of Jesus to the world. There is no trail, pavement, mountain or body of water that is safe from our attack. We’re going strong, we’re multiplying rapidly and we’re doing it for a prize that lasts. We are Team FaithQuest and we will CLIMB, CYCLE, and RUN for the PRIZE. (1 Cor. 9:24)
Small steps of faith can sometimes lead to more than we can dream or imagine! Shane was a regular guy who liked to run and simply thought, “There has got to be a way that I can tie my Christian faith into running and do it for a greater purpose.” So in a small step of faith he reached out to Johno over at FaithQuest Missions with the idea of getting some people together to do a run to raise financial support for the work of FaithQuest. 12 runners came together in 2008 to run the first SoCal Ragnar Relay, a 200 mile relay event, and all committed to sharing the story to raise awareness and support for the global missions work of FaithQuest. It was a bit startling when over $15,000 was raised from that first event.
Team FaithQuest had taken root. We began to participate in marathons, half-marathons and obstacle runs. Then it branched out—the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada, group climbs to the top of Kilimanjaro, quadrupling the size of the Ragnar Relay teams, hosting the Big Ring cycling events for over 6 years, and co-hosting international cycling events in 5 different countries and counting. Hundreds of thousands of dollars has being generated for outreach to the lost, last, and least. The explosion that is Team FaithQuest began with one regular guy with one simple idea and a small step of faith, but God has delighted to grow it exponentially and keeps expanding the reach and impact.
Today, Team FaithQuest is led by Josh Johnson and continues to evolve and morph into whatever and wherever God leads us. We truly feel this is God at work! We continue to add to our ever-growing list of awesome adventures that God has called us on to bring awareness to his Kingdom purpose. We want to thank the hundreds of faith-filled athletes, volunteers, and also the thousands of generous donors fueling it all.
What else?—to have FUN! Okay, okay, I guess we can be more official than that. How’s this: To engage people and their churches to participate in athletic events and raise resources to equip FaithQuest Missions, it’s projects, and it’s partners, and to spur on personal involvement in the global trip opportunities with FaithQuest Missions.
Our Partner: FaithQuest Missions
FaithQuest is determined to be a catalyst to mobilize people and their churches to put their faith into action. We are eager for all to experience the exciting journey of transformation that often occurs when we respond to the message of Jesus to “Go” (Mark 16:15 and Matthew 28:19-20) and step into a great faith-adventure trip to places where together we can love God, love others, and have a blast!
