We did it! GOD BLESS YOU FAITHFUL FELLOW SERVANTS! We had 39 runners from at least 12 different So Cal churches and together, God has used you all to raise more than $27,000 for His work and sponsorships are still coming in!

Despite heat, sleep depravation, mile and miles of running, and 40+ hours of prep/running/van-sitting/celebrating/getting home and crashing, we seem to not be able to stop talking about it! We are so proud of our team and thankful to all that partnered with us!

It is amazing how many of our team members have already said to count them in for 2012… Wonder how many teams we will have next year and how fast we can go? We will be having a couple of follow-up gatherings where we can have fun together celebrating, laughing, eating, talking, and also dreaming about what is to come!

Stay tuned!

I think Ragnar puts it best:

“PICTURE THIS: You and 11 of your closest friends running day and night. Starting in beautiful Huntington Beach, your team of 12 runners will embark on a 200 mile adventure-fest. The party in your van will only get better as you leap frog your way down the beautiful Pacific Coast. The race (and your stamina) will wrap up on beautiful Coronado Island.”

We are assembling teams for 2012 so please let us know if you are interested! – Shane@TeamFaithQuest.org

Team FaithQuest welcomes all beginners! We want to help you feel confident as you train to accomplish a significant goal. Here are some questions to some answers that you might be asking yourself:

Can I REALLY do this!?
ABSOLUTELY! You may be attempting something you never thought possible for you. We believe you can cross that finish line! The “trick” is to prepare yourself! Start and stick to a training plan! See our training plans!

What should I wear?
Take a look at our Running Gear Checklist to make sure you have what you need to be safe and comfortable while you run. Most importantly, order your Team Faithquest running shirt on our online store (coming soon) and wear it! It’s great for training, and you’ll definitely want to wear it on race day.

As a rule, what you wear should be made of wicking material. This will prevent sweat from soaking into your clothes and help keep you cooler. This rule applies to shirts, shorts, sports bras, and socks! (Cotton socks are the #2 cause of blistering!)

What kind of running shoes should I buy?
Choosing the right pair of running shoes is a very important decision and there are a lot of factors that need to be accounted for. Because of this, we recommend that you visit a specialty running store near you to be professionally fit. The process only takes a few minutes and is well worth the time! Our team members have recommended Road Runners Sports, Fleet Feet and A Snail’s Pace.

What you can expect:

They will measure your feet to help determine the best shoes for you. If they don’t measure your feet, don’t buy your shoes there.

They will watch you run to help determine the best shoes for you. If they don’t watch you run, don’t buy your shoes there.

These stores are used to beginners! It might be scary to walk into a running store for the first time, but go proudly! Tell them you are new to running and are not sure what style you need. They will help find the right fit for you.

Do I need a watch?
It’s important to wear a watch in order to help keep track of your pace, or the number of minutes it takes you to run each mile. They can be expensive but you don’t need to spend a lot of money on a watch! GPS and other fancy watches are great, but a $7 watch from Target works just fine too!

What should my pace be?
When you are first getting started, don’t worry about your pace but rather focus on accomplishing a distance or total time spent running goal.
